Enterprises today cannot collaborate in value and quality chains

21st century technology is enabling more business collaboration, while 20th century management structures hamper collaboration. Each enterprise has different definitions and measurements, so there is no strong framework of understanding. Advances like EDI, common applications systems, and multi-enterprise business processes helped communications, but often increase costs and impose resisted methods. Enterprises contrive “value chains” without a consistently-managed definition of value.

Business collaboration is prevented by incompatible structures laid over businesses today

Enterprises today do not define, organize, or manage the business. Instead the enterprise is managed by laying organization, planning, accounting, process, system, performance, and other structures over the business. Business collaboration is hampered by the variety of overlaid structures and information entities, creating the information complexity problem. Many business collaboration solutions provide contrived data reconciliation structures or lay additional collaboration structures over the business, rather than managing the businesses of each collaborator to utilize the strong capital solutions of each to produce the final result.

21st century business management organizes the business to manage collaboration

Business management provides the foundation for understanding and collaboration across enterprises. All enterprises in the chain have a business structure that defines their results and result value. The collaboration business structure shows the results to be produced by collaborators in the chain in the result structure, capital solutions to be utilized provided by all collaborators in the capital structure, and the utilization of a solution to produce a specific result in the performance structure. The business structure also provides a common definition of result value and quality, performance effectiveness and costs, and capital solution qualifications. A collaboration business structure shows the results and performance in the value-quality chain to produce the final result. All collaborators employ the latest 21st century business management conventions and standards pertaining to the chain. Results and performance are professionally managed along the chain. Duplicate results are obvious. Potential result and performance improvements can be spotted easily. All costs are known. Result value-added is a normal measure.

Result chains are managed across businesses for shared value-added

Every business must produce results for success. Every business incurs different levels of costs for the same result. Results produced across businesses form result chains. Results are analyzed to eliminate low-value results and produce high value and quality. Capital solutions are optimized to minimize costs and increase value-added. Results are located in the chain to achieve the best value-added that can be shared by all.

Business collaboration structures enable improvements and efficiencies across businesses

Result value-quality chains are defined for the performance producing specific results across businesses. The business collaboration structure guides continual result and performance improvements. Collaboration structures integrate business partners in a chain producing a common final result. Collaboration structures also integrate supplier and customer businesses to produce results where most cost-effective. Rather than increasing each other’s costs, suppliers and customers collaborate to reduce overall costs and increase value-added. Potential improvements along the chain can be identified to eliminate duplication and produce a result at the collaborator that provides the greatest shared value. Business management manages collaboration as part of each business and enables all collaborators to manage shared value-added to achieve a common final result. 21st Century management conventions, definitions, and standards are used by all businesses for communications, collaboration, outsourcing, common solutions, and business integration.
