R-pM manages one integrated Enterprise Business Structure

The business structure is like a spreadsheet listing performance solutions down the rows and results across the columns. A cell records actual business data, for the capacity, cost, and effectiveness of a specific solution utilized to produce a volume, value, and quality of result. The needed data is available to manage, directly, both the business and projects that develop the business.

Capital development is through a Result-performance Operation-development Continuum

R-pM does not separate development from operations, but provides a Result-performance Operation-development Continuum, where capital development is part of the business.

The enterprise needs to add or create planned value in specific results, so invests in capital to be developed as specific performance solutions. The planned results and performance solutions needed are updated to the current Enterprise Business Structure to produce the planned Developed Enterprise Business Structure, to plan the return on the capital investment.

Each capital development project is one result in the Enterprise Business Structure. The enterprise result is managed through a Project Business Structure to utilize assigned capital as Project Performance Solutions to develop new enterprise results and solutions as Project Results. Project Results for new enterprise solutions capture development costs and are implemented as documented enterprise performance solutions.

The project is closed out as new enterprise results and performance solutions are implemented in the current actual developed Enterprise Business Structure, and utilized to incur costs and to create value in the results produced over the payback period. The result value-added compared with result value added in the projected Enterprise Business Structure with no development provides the return on each solution investment.

Project planning produces a planned Developed Enterprise Business Structure

R-pM identifies each new result needed with result requirements for the specific quality and value of economic output, and the specific performance solutions that need to be developed including intangible intellectual, information, business, and management capital. Performance solutions have specifications for the result problem, integration with other solutions, and result value creation.

Planned results and solutions, and old results and solutions not needed, are updated to the current Enterprise Business Structure to show the planned developed Enterprise Business Structure. Result value less performance costs in the planned Enterprise Business Structure is compared to projected result value-added with no development, over the planned payback period, to justify the project. The project is substantiated by result goals accepted by result managers to produce the actual payback.

The project is managed through the Project Business Structure

The whole completed and closed out capital development project is one investment management result in the Enterprise Business Structure. Under this result, the project itself has its own Project Business Structure that defines the Project Results to be produced and the Project Performance Solutions assigned to be utilized on the project. Consultants, contractors, or vendors may provide Project Performance Solutions, such as human personnel and capabilities or facility equipment, to produce specific Project Results.

R-pM defines each new enterprise solution as a Project Result to capture full development costs, solution documentation, and utilization knowledge to be closed out against the solution at project end. Each new enterprise result is also a Project Result to document the result and produce result knowledge, and to test, accept, and integrate solutions to produce planned result value.

Project management is the same as operations management to utilize assigned project performance solutions to produce needed project results. The project is managed like a business to capture performance costs for developed project results to assist determination of initial enterprise result value, actual solution development costs, and new enterprise capital worth. The project is closed out as new enterprise results and enterprise solutions are implemented by the project into the current Enterprise Business Structure to produce the developed Enterprise Business Structure.

Project results are implemented into the Enterprise Business Structure

R-pM updates the actual Enterprise Business Structure as project results are implemented as new Enterprise Results and Performance Solutions.

Initial Enterprise Result documentation, value, quality determinates, risk exposures, goals, other result metrics, organization name, responsible manager, etc. are set as result attributes to begin to produce the result.

Initial Enterprise Performance Solution documentation, performance development costs, performance costs to be charged to the result, performance expectation, performance effectiveness measure, performance uncertainty indicators, other performance indicators, responsible performance manager, etc are set up as performance attributes for each solution and the solution is deployed to produce specific results.

When the new performance solution is utilized by results, solution development costs can be amortized against result value created. The return on investment can be systematically determined for all capital development, by comparing the actual result value-added with projected result value-added in the Enterprise Business Structure with no development, over the payback period.
